The Ministry: The mission of OurCalling is to glorify God by leading homeless individuals to Christ and making disciples on the streets. OurCalling is a ministry specifically focused on the unsheltered homeless community. We operate an outreach center for the homeless community near downtown Dallas. We are passionate about loving and helping the unsheltered homeless transition to better lives. We are a faith-based ministry where every job is a ministry position. Each staff member should be able to clearly share the Gospel and communicate their own testimony. While everyone on the team wears multiple hats, our primary function is getting people off the street and helping them walk with Jesus. We want everything that we do to point to Jesus. We serve 200-400 guests daily. We are a “no-barrier” facility that is welcoming and compassionate to all who enter.
Position Summary: The Program Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to support the mission through the management of Wednesday morning worship services (OurChurch), Recovery Classes, Onsite Partners, and Preaching Team calendar and meetings. This will include the following -
- Engaging with church partners or Christian groups to secure worship leaders or teams to lead worship in song during select OurChurch services
- Managing the planning and scheduling of each service and making sure slides in ProPresenter are ready to go
- Co-facilitate Preaching Team meetings and manage that calendar
- Oversee direction of Recovery Classes by clearly laying out plans and expectations of participants and leaders
- Regularly checking in on on-site partners and managing those relationships
- Identify significant gaps/barriers for our homeless friends and ensure OurCalling is comprehensively addressing them either through direct service or outside service providers
- Manage staff devotional schedule
- Manage requests that come to the Programs Department for OurCalling tours, presentations, and internships
- Assist the Programs Director with other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in an administrative or supportive role
- Experience managing calendars and scheduling
- Theological education a plus
- Ministry to the unsheltered homeless or experience working with addiction recovery, mental illness, the disabled, the aged or infirmed, preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented
- A problem solver and effective working across departmental lines
- Able to manage time well
- Flexible in a busy and fast-paced environment
- Excellent Listener with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working collaboratively
- A good people connector (I need to find another way to word this)
